Shake yer Mutie

I've had this guy finished and needing basing for about a week but this morning I finally got round to it. He is, as i'm sure you know, a keeper form that GorkaMorka Mutie raiders mob. I was going to rush through the five figures that I've got (i'm missing one of the Unk's, the one with the Glaive, anybody?) but once I started painting this guy I got sucked in and really enjoyed getting him done.

Arquebus

[Edit] - Sorry for randomly posting a photo without explanation, I was trying to upload the pic to photobucket but was having no luck and decided to throw a post up with it on so that I could link it into the LAF Pikes, Muskets and Flouncy shirts painting club. Check it out, some great stuff on it already. This guy is one of the citadel Estalians that I converted previously and represents a Spanish Arquebusier in the army of the Duke of Alva in the Netherlands during the dutch revolt in around 1567.

The Root of all Evil

Have you got Lost and the Damned? Well? Have you?

It's like an expensive badge. One of the most expensive, book shaped, badges of the whole Oldhammer 'movement'. It's one of these ebay items that makes you sweat through your eyeballs at the thought of pressing 'buy now'. The chaos that ensues when one comes up for auction is worse than the most sharp elbowed, old woman at the church jumble sale.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great book. As an example of the levels of madness that Brian's ego reached then it is a fantastic resource but as a book to play games with? You can manage without it.

A lot of the warband stuff is repeated from the first book and cleaned up a little. The Tzeentch and Nurgle lists are in different formats to lists in the first book. The Beastman and Minotaur stuff is interesting but not hugely ground breaking and there is some neat stuff about creating your own chaos gods and daemons. The painting pages are nice but not as nicely presented as in StoD.

So what is so good about it then? Well it has a really good quick reference sheet for 3rd ed but that's not worth a hundred quid. It does have the first description of the Emperor's early life and his creation of the Primarch's and then Horus Heresy leading to his battle with Horus and his entombment in the golden throne.

Paranoia Blues

You have to love Paranoia.

I've never actually played it and I only know about it cos of the Vulture warriors scenario but I still love it.

There is something about the insane future dystopia that has as much validity as Judge Dredd on my vision of a sci-fi city scape. Fuck all that grimdark nonsense, lets add some bright colours and mayhem while trying to avoid getting terminated by the computer. Or the security troopers. Or Intsec. Or your weaponry. Or the other trouble shooters. Or a T-Rex.

The Wipsters+ @Knavecon 7

Despite Ryanair trying to kill me through excessive waiting and psychotically small leg room, Antipixi and I arrived in that there Ireland to take part in Knavecon7. Essentially Knavecon is a board game convention held in a nice hotel in Limerick but this year a bakers dozen of small man enthusiasts arrived to drink the beer and be very poilte to the women!
